Over the past week, the Lord has been showing up, opening our ears to hear what He is saying even louder than usual. He has been highlighting patterns and putting on repeat an uncommon name—Alex.

I’ve been in discussions with four different people from four different organisations, and they all have the name Alex.

My eyes were suddenly opened to this pattern. In that moment, I realised He was highlighting the name, and I asked, “What are You saying, Lord?”

I heard Him say, “Look up the meaning of the name Alex.”

ALEX NAME MEANING: Defender of the weak, protector of mankind.

Yesterday morning, I received another confirmation. As I arrived at a place to sign in, there was a list of names written on stones. All names had already been taken… but one name remained. The only name left on one stone was Alex.

In that moment, the Lord spoke loudly to my heart, drawing my eyes to that name once again. The sense of urgency in His voice thundered, “I AM THE DEFENDER OF THE WEAK!”

This was now the fifth confirmation over just a few days.

I am awestruck by what He is speaking. After we heard the footsteps of Jesus three times last week while walking up Long Reef, it felt like He was confirming His word again—that He is our rear guard. He is the protector of the weak. He is the defender of those who love Him!

He is our Rear Guard—we cannot always see what approaches from behind, but He sees and knows the unseen warfare and the intimidation that seeks to bring God’s people to their knees. Yet He asks only that we remain in Him, that we go low in humility, and watch as He rises to our defence.

I believe the Lord is intensifying His presence as Defender and Protector, drawing us out of constant warfare and into our priesthood as sons and daughters in the earth. From that place of abiding, we are called to rule and reign with Him as kings—when we speak in alignment with His will, it will be established in power!

Over the past five years, darkness has increased across the earth because the enemy senses what God’s people are about to step into as His sons and daughters. Yet even so, the light of His glory shines even brighter through the darkness. This is a divine reminder of who we are and whose we are!

The warfare many are facing right now has intensified because the enemy’s time is short. But remember this, He is our true Defender in times of war and upheaval. He alone is our refuge—the One who faithfully protects and defends us against every spiritual attack.

How beautiful that even through something as simple as a name appearing again and again, the Lord speaks of who He is—The defender of the weak, our protector, the One who goes before us and behind us. He surrounds those who love Him.

The Lord says,
“I am increasing the capacity to hear My voice and to sense My nearness in those who humble themselves and recognise their need for Me. Those who come to Me need not fear, for they have made Me their Defender and Protector. No disaster will strike them, nor will any plague come near their house!”

— PSALMS 91:1–16 —

“Whoever goes to the Lord for safety, whoever remains under the protection of the Almighty, can say to Him, ‘You are my DEFENDER and PROTECTOR. You are my God; in You I trust.’ He will keep you safe from all hidden dangers and from all deadly diseases. He will cover you with His wings; you will be safe in His care; His faithfulness will PROTECT and DEFEND you.

You need not fear any dangers at night or sudden attacks during the day, or the plagues that strike in the dark, or the evils that kill in daylight. A thousand may fall dead beside you, ten thousand all around you, but you will not be harmed.

You will look and see how the wicked are punished. You have made the Lord your defender, the Most High your protector, and so no disaster will strike you, no violence will come near your home.

God will put His angels in cKaylie Hollinso protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands to keep you from hurting your feet on the stones. You will trample down lions and snakes, fierce lions and poisonous snakes.

God says, ‘I will save those who love Me and will protect those who acknowledge Me as Lord. When they call to Me, I will answer them; when they are in trouble, I will be with them. I will rescue them and honour them. I will reward them with long life; I will save them.
